When I was 3 years old; I began taking acrobat, ballet and tap dance lessons. I took the acrobat and ballet lessons for 12 years. I took the tap dance lessons for 7 years.

I ran on the cross country team in junior high school for 1 year. I ran on the cross country and track teams during high school for 4 years. I ran on the cross country team for one year during college. I had to quit that team because of a knee injury that just wouldn't heal.

The coaches who coached me were successful coaches who had winning teams. I learnd a lot from them.

I majored in Exercise Physiology during College. Once I graduated. I returned to College and got a second major in Accounting.

Once I was no longer competing on Sports Teams; I still remained an active person with jogging, exercise programs and lots of gardening. Even though I have always been a very active person; I still have the tendency to gain weight. This has always frustrated me very much.

I want to be a healthy and active person throughout my entire life. I don't want to acquire major health problems as I age. I really like to be as self-sufficient and indepentent as I can be and the thought of ever being sickly and heavily dependent on other people frightens me.

I have put tremendous time and effort into trying to figure out how I can have a lean and energetic body throughout my life.

I have read many books from many experts in this field who have a variety of backgrounds in this field. I have listened to an extensive tele-seminar about this topic. I have done countless searches on the internet. I have talked to personal trainers about this topic. I have tried many different diet and exercise programs. I have exercised with other people who drop weight quickly when they are doing the same workouts as I do; yet, my weight tends to stay the same. I definitely understand that losing weight is a different journey for different people and there isn't one program that works for everyone. Some people can choose a diet and exercise program, perform it and have great success; while others try many different programs and never seem to figure out how they can loose a significant amount of weight.

Throughout my quest I have learned what works and what doesn't work; regarding getting into condition whether you are trying to gain muscle, lose fat, become a faster runner, become a better kicker, become more agile, etc.

During my research I have learned extensive information about nutrition and how foods help you become more physically fit or keep you from becoming more physically fit.

Also, my husband and I have had consultations with various Nutritionists over the years because my husband is a Type I Diabetic (his body doesn't produce any insulin). A Type II Diabetic's body produces some insulin; but, not enough. Some Type II Diabetic's can get away with not needing to inject any insulin if they exercise and eat properly. A Type I Diabetic needs to inject insulin. If they don't, their blood sugar levels will be out-of-control. Every time they eat carbohydrates; their blood sugar levels will rise. Sugar will accumulate in their blood stream. The overly-sugared blood will damage that persons organs over time. That person is also a candidate for having dramatic blood sugar lows that could cause unconsiousness.

If a Diabetic gains tremendous knowledge about diet, nutrition and exercise; they can dramatically improve their life and longevity.

When my husband switched from only slow-release insulin therapy to slow-release and fast-acting insulin therapy; we had to attend a multi-part one-on-one consulation class for 4 consuective weeks with 2 different Nutritionists. He needed to know exactly how different foods affect his blood sugar levels. Once he was on the new program; he began injecting the amount of fast-acting insulin he needed to counter-act the amount of carbs he consumed. He needed to learn that consuming foods that are high in carbs and low in fat, plain sugar is an example, will cause his blood sugar levels to rise very quickly. If he consumes carbs with fats, french fries would be an example, the fat in the fries will slow down his bodies absorption of the carbs. Consequently, those carbs will still cause his blood sugars to rise. The rate-of-speed at which his blood sugar will rise, however, will be significantly delayed because of his fat consumption.

At a later date; my husband decided to get an insulin pump that would help him control his blood sugar levels even better. Before he was allowed to use his new pump. We once again attended a multi-part class with several different Nutritionists. This class was about matching nutrition-intake with insulin intake; luckily, we knew most of the information the Nutritionists were teaching. We learned a few more things about Nutrition and we learned how to use the pump.

Because I attended these classes with my husband. I learned a dramatic amount of information about how various types of foods affect different people's bodies. The information I learned finally helped me understand how I can successfully lose weight.
