Louise Bush's Devotionals     Miracles By God Hebrews 2:3-4 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? Beginning at Cana of Galilee, Jesus performed at least 35 recorded miracles. John implies there were many other miracles that were not recorded. All of these miracles were performed to prove to man that Jesus was and is the Christ. He never performed miracles just to show off His power, but to bless and help needy mankind. To show His complete power over nature, sickness, death, and evil spirits. Power over nature. Jesus showed His dominance over nature by turning water into wine; by the abundance of fishes; by stilling the storm; by feeding the 5000; by feeding the 4,000; by providing the temple tax money; and cursing the fig tree. He showed power over sickness. Most miracles Jesus performed involved the healing of sick people. These healings covered such varied illnesses as deafness and dumbness; a withered hand; leprosy; palsy. Christ's power of healing knew no distance barrier. He could heal in mass as well as individually. Jesus could even heal an ear that had been severed by a sword. Christ had power over any kind of disease or accident. He showed power over death. Three times Jesus proved His power was greater than death. The first was the widow's son of Nain. Another incident involved the daughter of Jairus. The third incident involved His friend Lazarus. These He raised, died again later. However, Jesus proved himself total victor over death, hell, and the grave by His own resurrection. Because of His power over death, there is no more sting over death. Power over evil spirits. He who is all powerful has total control over all evil spirits, whether they manifest themselves in insanity; seizures; or muteness. Jesus is all powerful. I, personally know God is still performing miracles today. God is so good! Let Jesus into your heart.
