Today is the day for salvation. What is salvation? - deliverance or preservation as in spiritual and eternal deliverance granted immediately by God to those who accept His conditions of repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus, in whom alone it is to be obtained. Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Why do we need it? - Jesus gave the parable of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. What is sin? - missing the mark, not walking in the way God has set for you,. First, you need to know and believe that no one is without sin, because God says in Romans 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no not one." For we all have sinned, as God has said in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Where did our sin come from? God says in Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." We need to believe we are a sinner. Second, there is a price to pay for our sin, God says in Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." God says that the payment of sin is death, but He gave us a gift, eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus Christ died for us. It says in Romans 5:8 "God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Christ paid the debt for our sins. We need to believe that Christ paid the debt for our sins on the cross. Thirdly, we need to believe and confess that Christ rose from the dead. God says in Romans 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth, the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on Him shall not be ashamed." Fourthly, we need to take God at His word. He says in Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God is asking you right now to take Him at His word, believe on Him. Here is a simple prayer you can pray. Heavenly Father, I believe that I am a sinner and that your son died on the cross for my sins and through his blood I can have my sins forgiven. Please forgive me of my sins and cleans my heart from all unrighteousness. I accept Jesus as my savior and ask you to come into my life right now. Thank you for your son Jesus and coming into my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
