We all would like to be wise in our prayers. How to pray for our children, our husband, our wife. This is just an example of what I have found in God's word on how to pray for our children and spouses. We can also use this scripture method on how to pray for other family members, friends, co-workers, pastors, etc... May we all learn to use scripture to pray wisely for others.

May God richly guide you in your search for scripture prayers. We will all benefit from it. Amen

Scripture prayers for our Loved Ones

Ephesians 3:14-19 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Pray for your loved ones to be strengthened with might by God's Spirit in his/her inner being. And that Christ may dwell in their hearts by faith. That they would be rooted and grounded in God's love that they may be able to comprehend what is the breadth, length, depth, and height of God's love which passes knowledge, and to be filled with all the fulness of God.

Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Pray for your husband/wife/children to have a Godly mentor to teach him/her according with the truth in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 4:25-27 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

Pray for your husband/wife/children to put off falsehood and speak truthfully and not let anger continue in his/her heart. Pray that his/her desire will be to work and have enough left over to share with those in need.

Ephesians 4:29-32 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Pray that your husband/wife/children will talk with thoughtfulness and understanding, to benefit those who listen.

Pray that your husband/wife/children will not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, but will get rid of all bitterness, rage & anger, brawling & slander, along with every form of malice.

Pray that your husband/wife/children will have compassion & forgiveness as Christ forgave.

Ephesians 5:3-7 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.

Pray that your husband/wife/children will keep himself/herself from sexual immorality, impurity, greed., obscenity, foolish talk, or course joking, but be thankful for everything in Christ.

Pray that your husband/wife/children would never be deceived by such people.

Ephesians 5:15-20 Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray for your husband/wife/children to have wisdom & understanding of God's will and in all things.

Pray for your husband/wife/children to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Pray for your husband/wife/children to have wisdom and guidance in spiritual matters.

Wives:

Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Colossians 3:18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

Pray that God will teach you to be humble, respectful and be in subjection to your husband.

Husbands:

Ephesians 5:25-33 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church-- for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

Pray that God will teach you to love your wife and not be bitter against them. To supply her spiritual, emotional, and physical needs. To be understanding, caring, and wise.

Parents:

Colossians 3:21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Pray that you will not provoke your children to anger.

Pray that your child will know Christ as Savior early in his/her life

Psalm 38:5 My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness.

Pray that your child will have an attitude of Christian morality and responsibility in all his interpersonal relationships.

Psalm 91:9-11 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

Pray that your child will desire the right kind of friends, be protected from the wrong associations, and be hedged in by God so that he does not find his way to wrong people or wrong places and that the wrong people do not find their way to him.

II Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Psalm 37:4-5 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Pray that your child will rely on God's direction in choosing a mate, being kept from the wrong choice, and being saved for the right marriage partner.

I Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Psalm 19:7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of our mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Pray that your child will be single-hearted in loving and applying God's word, using its wisdom rather than the world's standards to make decisions in his/her life.

Psalm 90:17 And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.

Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
