Emu oil is the all-natural oil from
the oil glands of the emu bird of
Australia, a large flightless bird slightly smaller than the
Ostrich. Emu oil products have been used for centuries by the Aboriginal people

Many skin-care products are made largely with a mineral oil,
Vaseline, or petrolatum base. These products are made from crude oil, and
while they serve their purpose to a somewhat limited extent, they also may,
in the long run, damage the skin they were designed to protect! Petrolatum
based skin care products clog the pores, and ultimately shut down the skin's
ability to breathe and evaporate moisture. This in turn prevents the skin
from producing the needed lipids which hydrate our skin and further damages
the skin. Emu oil products, on the other hand, quickly penetrate and moisturize
the skin, without clogging the pores. |
| Emu oil is almost 100% triglyceride lipid. Triglycerides (a type of fatty
compound) are abundant in human skin lipids, and the composition of fatty
acids in human skin is very similar to that of emu oil. This may be why the
