Numerous studies have shown that the amino acid GABA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid) promotes significant increases in plasma growth hormone levels. Results from a study at the University of Milan showed a 5.5 fold increase in plasma growth hormone levels 90 minutes after GABA administration. Quoted results from this study showed “In all of the 19 subjects studied, compared with 18 controls, plasma growth hormone levels were significantly increased (above 5 mg/ml) by acute oral administration of 5 grams of GABA.” GABA is an amino acid that acts as a neurotransmitter. There’s a high concentration of GABA in the hypothalamus region of the brain, which suggests that it plays a significant role in hypothalamic-pituitary function. This means that it assists in hormonal production throughout the body and can positively effect the level of growth hormone. GABA also has positive effects on the nervous system, may promote fat loss and assists the body's sleeping cycle.
