Common
Uses: First aid kit in a bottle, tea tree is anti-infectious,
antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antiparasitic, anti-inflammatory
& immune stimulating. Tea tree stimulates the immune system in colds
& flu, fights bacteria and infection (sore throats, laryngitis, tonsillitis,
whooping cough, reproductive/urinary tract), helps clear up acne, rashes,
bronchitis, athlete's foot, warts, nails, cold sores, herpes, toothache,
infected gums, gingivitis, periodontal disease, cuts, burns, bites, and
stings. Improves the immune system & reduces incidence of colds/infectious
illnesses (candida, cystitis). A powerful antiseptic, it destroys harmful
bacteria while preserving healthy tissue, thus promoting faster, more
effective healing with less scarring. In skin care, rivals benzoyl peroxide
in fighting acne without causing dryness, irritation; good after shaving
– irritation. Used as a disinfectant for adding to the wash, cleaning,
etc. Effective to rid lice, ticks, leeches.
Blends
well with: Tea Tree essential oil blends particularly well with
cinnamon, clary sage, clove, geranium, lavender, lemon, myrrh, nutmeg,
rosewood, rosemary and thyme.
Aromatic
Scent: Tee Tree essential oil has a fresh, antiseptic and medicinal
scent. It also has characteristic mint and spice back-notes. Refreshing,
cooling, clear, sharp aroma.
Aromatherapy Properties:
Stimulating & refreshing, helps overcome sluggishness. During times of
emotional overload, restores balance improves concentration, intellectual
capacity. Cools anger, after an argument, diffusing room will cleanse
environment.
History:
The aboriginal people of Australia have long used Tea tree oil; similarly,
Tea tree has a long history of use within the field of aromatherapy. In
World War Two, the producers and the cutters of Tea Tree were exempt from
military service until enough essential oil had been accumulated. The
oil was a highly valued product as it was issued to each soldier and sailor
as part of their kit in order to treat tropical infections and infected
wounds.
Usage Warning: Toxic if taken internally,
keep out of reach of children. Do not use for babies under 12 months,
or if prone to asthma. Can irritate sensitive skin.
Tea Tree essential oil may cause dermal sensitization in some people.
Do not take internally.
