STC750G - Scott Cao Guadagnini Cello Outfit Description The "Guadagnini" is based on a cello from 1777 by J.B. Guadagnini. From his creative period in Turin, it is believed to be the last commission from his patron, Count Cozio di Salabue. The original cello is named the "Simpson" after H.P. Simpson, who owned it from 1911-1949. The Scott Cao "Guadagnini" follows the slightly smaller, more compact body design as the original instrument and combines quality tone-woods with excellent craftsmanship to produce a full, even tone. Spruce top of fine to medium grain. Inlaid purfling. Two piece maple back with strong, medium flame. Ribs and scroll similar to back. Finished in an attractive varnish, reddish-brown on a golden ground and antiqued in the style of the original instrument. Made in China. Fittings: Ebony fingerboard and pegs Wittner tailpiece Jager A D G and C strings Aubert Mirecourt bridge
