Shown in HoneyPinion (HP) Also Available in WalnutSage (WS) Having a hump over the front shoulders, a massive head and slim hindquarters, the buffalo, or bison is the largest terrestrial animal in North America. With a coat of long, dark hair on the front of the body, the buffalo has shorter hair on the rear part of the body with the adult bull usually having a black beard about twelve inches long. The buffalo can stand up to six feet tall and weigh up to 2,400 pounds. Historically, the buffalo was a prime source of meat, sinew, and fur for generations of plains Indians, who often revered the huge animal.
