This hip length, banded vest has a front 5-button band and a tailored collar. The bottom edge of the vest has a topstitched casing with a narrow tie, giving the vest a soft blouson look when the vest is buttoned and tied.
View A has a bold rooster design featured on the back of the vest.
View B features appliques that add a checkerboard border and stars to the vest front and back.
The straight lines of this banded vest make a perfect canvas for any dramatic applique design. The vest is also beautiful in a wonderful chenille coloration without appliques. Try making this vest using other wearable art techniques such as piecing, machine embroidery, and more! It's just a great basic vest! Sizes XS-XXL included in pattern. Pattern measurements allow for 2" ease to compensate for chenille shrinkage with the first washing.

Suggested fabrics: 100% cotton, preferably yarn-dyed, including cotton flannel, madras plaids, osnaburg, and muslins. ALWAYS make sample block of any fabrics that you select!

45" fabrics, all sizes: 2 yds for each chenille layer (total of 6 yds) and 2 yds for base layer.
30" by 12" piece of interfacing for the front bands.
5/8 yd contrasting or matching fabric for the binding.
